A4, A5 or A6 Flyers: Choosing the Right Size

Printed flyer stack on a yellow background

Choosing a flyer size is easier when you know where the flyer will be used. A handout for people walking through Harare needs a different layout from a detailed offer left on a reception desk. Before requesting flyer printing, decide what someone should understand and do after a quick look.

Start with the message

Write the main offer in one sentence. Then list the details a customer needs before making an enquiry: the product or service, who it is for, a location where relevant, and a working contact number. If the message needs several paragraphs to explain, consider whether a brochure would serve it better.

When a smaller flyer makes sense

A6 can suit a short announcement, a simple promotion or a reminder handed to existing customers. Its compact size encourages a focused message. Avoid treating it as a miniature poster: shrinking a crowded design usually makes the contact details and conditions harder to read.

A5 gives you more room for a photograph, a short benefits list and a clear call to action. It is a useful format to discuss when you need a balance between a portable handout and enough space to explain your offer.

When to consider A4

A4 offers more space for a service overview, a detailed event announcement or information displayed on a noticeboard. That extra space still needs a clear reading order. Give the headline priority, group related details together and keep the contact section easy to find.

If you intend to fold the sheet, tell the designer before artwork begins. Folds change how the reader encounters information, so a flat flyer layout may need to be reorganised.

Check the design at its actual size

View or print a sample at the intended finished size. Read the smallest text without zooming in. Ask someone unfamiliar with your business to identify the offer and the next step. If they struggle, simplify the copy before adding more space.

Send a clear printing enquiry

For flyer printing, supply your preferred size, quantity, whether you need one or both sides printed, and your deadline. Describe how you will distribute the flyers so the format can be discussed in context. JomeTech Branding can review your requirements for printing in Harare; confirm paper and finishing options in your quotation before approving production.
