A calendar needs two separate proofreading checks: one for the date information and another for the business content. A design can pass a spelling review while still placing dates under the wrong weekdays. Treat both checks as essential before printing.
Verify the year throughout the artwork
Check the main year heading, any small reference calendars and dates in promotional text. If a template has been reused, old year labels may remain in places that are easy to overlook.
Review the calendar data against a reliable independent reference rather than comparing two copies generated from the same potentially incorrect file.
Check every month
- Month name and spelling.
- Weekday on which the month begins.
- Correct number of days.
- Continuous date sequence without duplicated or missing numbers.
- Consistent weekday headings and week-start convention.
- Correct alignment of dates within the grid.
After correcting a month, review the whole month again. Moving one date or changing a table can create an alignment problem elsewhere.
Verify holiday information separately
If public holidays are included, check their dates and labels against current authoritative Zimbabwe information before approval. Some dates or observance details need specific verification. Do not assume that last year’s list remains correct after changing the year.
Make the legend clear if colours or symbols distinguish holidays, weekends or company closure dates. A company closure should not be presented as a national public holiday.
Check the promotional content
Confirm the business name, logo version, telephone number, address and any web or social details. Open linked destinations and test QR codes where used. Remove offers that will expire before most recipients can use the calendar, unless the limited period is clearly stated.
If several branches appear, make the contact relationships clear. A list of numbers without labels may leave customers unsure which one to use.
Use an independent second check
Ask someone other than the designer to review the data. Record the approved file version and avoid making unreviewed changes after sign-off. Check a size-accurate sample for readability, because correct numbers are still unhelpful if they cannot be read comfortably.
